Sketching on Scalpay, Outer Hebrides
I am a multi-disciplinary artist who combines landscape and landmarks with stylised graphical designs and historical reference. My practice focuses on multi-layer reduction linocuts, where colours are built up on top of each other over successive print runs, as well as ceramics and mixed-media installations.
Having lived in several towns and cities and never feeling settled, I have begun to consider that my work may represent a search for my roots, and that this may be the source of my fascination with paths, routeways, and the nature of place. This led me to take a Masters in Contemporary Art & Archaeology in order to develop and add depth to my practice. The course allowed me to combine a love of archaeology, an affinity for the spirit of places, and my creative work. It was a hugely rewarding experience that developed my practice and impacted on the way I engage with individuals and communities through my work.

People often describe the calmness of my work; a reflection of my character and the way I feel when I’m out on our coastline or high in the mountains.
