Using 'wild clay' sourced from Alderley Edge. The Edge is famed for its use as a copper mine since prehistoric timesĀ and, in test firings, the copper content in the clay lends a beautiful green tinge to neutral glazes. This batch is wonderfully coarse and full of character. Glazing and firing to stoneware temperature resulted in a beautiful green glaze with blue highlights where the glaze pooled. My assumption is that this is a combination of malachite and azurite in the clay body.
