Bryn Cader Faner is a marvellous ring cairn high up above boggy ground near Talsarnau in Gwynedd. On approaching, it looks like a crown of thorns and it was this aspect I wanted to capture in my print.
Produced for the Old Roads, Ancient Tracks exhibition at Oriel Tŷ Meirion, Dyffryn Ardudwy in 2021. My pieces looked at key landmarks along the Ardudwy Way, which follows old drove roads for 25 miles through ancient Meirionydd. The three landmark works followed my now established format of combining real landscape with imagined strata reflecting history and culture.
