A current work in progress, this is planned as a multi-layer reduction linocut depicting the castle in its landscape setting. The shape of the rock strata are based on a cross section of the Harlech Dome geological structure which forms the basis of the Snowdonia mountains. Into these strata I am again combining more literal geological features such as fossilised shells, Celtic patterns, runic text and prehistoric burial.
As with all my pieces I am representing the literal and metaphorical sense that we build upon what goes before.
