A current, ongoing project, using 'wild clay' sourced from Alderley Edge. The Edge is famed for its use as a copper mine since prehistoric times and, in test firings, the copper content in the clay lends a beautiful green tinge to neutral glazes. This first batch is wonderfully coarse and full of character. I can't wait to put these mugs through a glaze firing, when the clay will darken to a rich rusty brown. Watch this space for more wild clay experiments.
